A modern food and restaurant district just outside Toulouse in the southern French municipality of Colomiers offers a wide range eating and shopping options over an extended area.

The building, with its curved glass front, is located on the Boulevard de l'Europe. From the boulangerie and patisserie with a fast food restaurant, to the pub with French cuisine, street food and a pizzeria, the zone attracts guests throughout the day.

In the summer it's especially popular thanks to a spacious terrace designed for relaxed outdoor dining.

The terrace has been fitted with a large Markilux awning system that matches the facade of the building.

As well as protecting diners from the sun during the daytime, built-in infrared heaters and lighting create a beautiful and cosy atmosphere in the evening.

Markilux: ultimate solar protection

'Our local specialist partner was commissioned to shade the terrace with a Pergola Stretch system that would harmonise visually with the building,' says Rebecca Dick, sales manager for France at Markilux.

The installation  is made up of 14 individual, coupled awnings. Each measures five by five metres, providing solar protection over a width of 70 metres and shade over 350 square metres.

To ensure the installation was completed smoothly and quickly, the Markilux service team provided technical expertise and support.

'We are delighted that the installation of this major project went so successfully,' says Dick.
